MMA Lighting Consultancy have extensive knowledge in the design and preparation of street lighting private cable network systems designs.
We carry out single and three phase Private Street lighting cable network designs in accordance with the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and BS 7671. Using modern cable design software we are able to produce wiring layout diagrams for all exterior lighting systems.
As part of a street lighting private cable network design, MMA Lighting Consultancy provide feeder pillar schematics, cable routes, fuse ratings and passive safety risk assessments (if required).
An example of a feeder pillar schematic we can produce is shown below:
The majority of adoptable developments and projects for local authorities will have lighting equipment proposed and installed with single phase DNO supplies directly installed within the base of the lighting columns, with sub feeds often found to signs and bollards.
A private cable network will be found on highway roads where there are no Low Voltage (LV) cables present which require the lighting authority to provide its only cable network to power the lighting equipment for a Section 38 or Section 278. On roads where the speed is over a certain criteria, there is also the requirement for a passive safe electrical disconnection system which must be via a private lighting cable from a central cabinet.
There are also instances where private housing or retail developments will also require a street lighting private cable network design fed from a central cabinet (feeder pillar) as the network and energy shall have a requirement to be paid for by the land lord.
We produce Secure by Design lighting schemes with private cable networks for clients in accordance with BS 7671 on housing schemes. Our cable network schemes incorporate underground ducted systems, fire resistant cable designs clipped in free air for wall mounted fittings and conduit mounted systems.
